My friend told me that balanced dieting is the only way to lose weight. Is that true? Can you tell me the pros and cons of dieting?

Balanced dieting is not the only way to lose weight but it's sure the most sensible. You can lose weight eating 2 slices of chocolate cake ( not a balanced diet ) for the entire day with no other food! Not a good way to lose weight. For the same amount of calories, you can have several balanced meals that include fruits, vegetables and meats. A balanced diet is easier to maintain and it will not leave you feeling hungry through most of the day.
 
The pros of dieting:
  1. A good diet plan gives you structure and a proven system to follow.
  2. Dieting creates weight loss ... not pills or herbal formulas.
  3. Dieting allows you to control calories so that you burn more calories than you take in.
  4. Dieting is the most effective way to lose weight.
Cons of dieting:
  1. Can be very frustrating if you don't follow a good plan.
  2. Requires some degree of discipline .
  3. Tends to be thought of as something very negative.
