Dear Editor, I tried several diets in the past like the high protein and Slim Fast diet. I lost weight but eventually gained it all back. This time around, I vow to keep the weight off. I really don’t want to repeat those fad diets I used so could you recommend a healthy diet and tell me some of the benefits. ~ Jackie Dear Jackie, You mentioned a common problem with fad diets. People tend to re-gain the weight that they lost. The benefits of a good diet is that you develop healthy eating habits. These habits stay with you so that you’re successful at keeping the weight off. You’re not always going to have the benefit of planning meals. Sometimes you’ll find yourself at an office party or some special event where you have to exercise discipline. Selecting healthy foods comes by learning how to control your urges and choosing wisely. This behavior has to be learned through experience. It’s tough enough to lose
weight, but keeping it off is just as difficult. The only way you can
overcome gaining weight is by learning to eat in a healthy way. Of
course we always recommend our personal diet plan because it’s easy to
follow and healthy, but any sensible diet plan that limits your overall
calorie intake will work.
