Dear Editor, I know that the fewer calories I eat per day, the more weight I will lose. Do you have any recommendations concerning counting calories. I’m not sure about the calorie content of the foods that I eat and I need to learn the calorie value. I would appreciate any recommendations you can give me. Thanks ~ ~ Amelia Dear Amelia, Before we tackle the issue of counting calories, let talk about eating fewer calories per day. Yes, you should stay on a restricted calorie diet to lose weight but you shouldn’t eat too few calories because you will lower your metabolism too much and possible gain the weight right back. That’s why we suggest a diet between 1200 and 1400 calories for most women. Any thing less than 1000 calories, is not safe from a nutritional standpoint plus you lower your metabolism. It’s a good idea to learn the calorie value of all the foods you eat. Get a calorie counting handbook (they’re very inexpensive) and browse through the contents of foods and respective calorie value. Plan your daily meals with their corresponding calorie value. Eat 4 to 5 small meals per day and stay between 1200 and 1400 calories.--------------------------------------------------------- If you need to lose weight, let us help.
