Dear Editor, I've been dieting for 6 months but I only lost 6 pounds. My sister told me the secret to losing more weight is to fast. Though I'm not against fasting, it seems like an extreme and potentially dangerous way to lose weight. My problem is frustration. I should have lost more weight by now but I don't want to turn to dangerous dieting practices. What should I do? ~ ~ Lilly Dear Lilly, Fasting does have it's place but as you stated, not for losing weight. Starving yourself will only slow your metabolism and make it harder to lose weight. Consistent fasting could be dangerous to your health because it puts your body in a constant state of starvation. The secret to losing weight is to eat more through-out the day. We recommend eating 4 to 5 times per day. Stay between 1200 and 1500 calories per day and eat healthy, low fat foods. Start up a regular exercise
program. Walking at a fast pace for 30 minutes a day may be the
missing ingredient to your weight loss program. Also plan your meals
each day to make life easy.
