I need to lose weight and I need to lose it fast. Can you tell me what foods to eat that will burn fat? I struggle with my diet and I don’t always eat the right foods. I read somewhere that certain foods help you burn fat, is that true?

Dear Beth,

Fat comes from excessive calories and foods don’t burn calories, but instead create calories. It’s a common misconception that certain foods will instantly burn fat. As unpopular as this sounds, if you want to burn fat, you need to exercise. Try

  • Walking,
  • Bike riding
  • Ride stationary bike
  • Swim
  • Anything that requires you to exert energy.

The way your body metabolizes fat is a complicated issue. Many factors are involved such as:

  • hormones
  • body chemistry
  • activity level
  • age

It is NOT a simple matter of certain foods burning more calories than they possess.

There are many scam artists out there who want you to believe that you can burn fat by eating because it easy and appeals to our basic nature of something for nothing. However, don’t be fooled. Follow the 4 simple guidelines below and you’ll lose all the weight that you want.

  • Plan your diet (write down your food schedule)
  • Include fruits and veggies
  • Eat 3 to 4 times a day without skipping meals
  • Exercise more.
