control for dieting. Specifically, do I need to
learn how to count calories of foods to lose
weight. I hear so many opinions about losing
weight that I get confused.

Learning how to count
calories is good way to lose weight. The average
women should stay between 1200 and 1400 calories
to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week. Men should
consume between 1800 and 2000 calories to lose
the same.
Start by writing down each
food item that you plan to eat for the day.
Write down the calorie value next to each food
item until you reach the above calorie
limitation. You can buy a calorie counter
mini-book or booklet at most supermarkets
check-out stands for a few dollars. You can also
go online to find interactive calorie counters.
By keeping a diary or food
planner, you automatically learn how to count
calories. Within a month, you can mentally keep
count of calories without writing everything
down. Of course, planning makes dieting much
easier.
