I really need to lose 20 pounds fast but how can I lose weight without falling prey to some gimmicky weight loss scheme? ~~ Terry Dear Terry, Your question is excellent. Too many people waste money on gimmicky diet pills, patches, weight loss formulas ....... you name it. Even if you ate nothing for the last 3 days, you wouldn't lose 20 pounds. You have to burn 3,500 of excess calories to lose 1 pound of fat. Multiply that number by 20 and you got a lot of excess calories to get rid of. The best approach to losing 20 pounds or more is a slow but steady approach. A more reasonable goal is to lose 1 pound per week by eating sensibly and exercising. Control your calorie intake by writing down the exact foods you plan to eat for the day. As a women, strive to stay between 1200 and 1400 calories per day to lose 1 pound each week. Daily exercise for 20 to 30
minutes will also help you burn more calories and lose pounds much
faster. We recommend a fast pace walk for 30 minutes a day or stationary
biking 4 to 5 times per week.
