Dear Editor,
I am confused about the best way
to lose 10 pounds in a month. I know that losing weight should be a
lifestyle change and I don’t want a quick fix solution. However, I don’t
want to waste time. I really need to lose about 35 pounds but I want to
lose it at about 10 lbs each month or 30 days. Can you give me some
suggestions?
~~ Susie
Dear Susie,
Good for you for not getting
caught up in the quick fix. As you stated, your weight loss effort
should be part of your daily routine and lifestyle. I suggest that you
plan each of your meals. Do this right now. Plan on 5 meals per day at a
total calorie intake of 1400.
Try to eat most of your “good
carbs” such as beans, oatmeal, brown rice, and fruit early in the day
and greatly reduce your carb intake after 4 pm. Plan on eating a lean
meat like chicken breast with one or two non-starch vegetables for
dinner.
Between meal snacks can consist
of a protein shake. Also try sugar free yogurt with a low glycemic fruit
such as strawberries. Pinto beans mix with cooked lean turkey makes an
excellent between meal snack that’s loaded with good protein and
nutrients along with good, clean carbs.
Lunch can be the same as dinner
with a lean meat and 1 or 2 non-starch veggies. Never skip breakfast.
You can eat oatmeal or a whole grain cereal. Eliminate refined sugar and
white flour that includes pasta and breads made from white flour.
You should easily be able to
lose 10 pounds in the next 30 days and for even better results, try
adding a daily fast pace walk for 30 minutes.
