Hello Editor, ~ Michelle Hi Michelle, First of all, congratulation on your weight loss success. The problem you described is commonly known as weight loss plateau. It’s frustrating to be doing everything right and still have problems losing weight. What’s happening is your body slowly lowered it’s metabolism to match the calories you’re eating. This problem goes back to the stone ages when food was scarce and the body would slow down as a matter of survival. Your body is actually trying to keep from wasting away by holding on to the fat reserve. Your biggest problem right now is discouragement, which leads to disappointment and lack of motivation. Sometimes when people get disappointed, they start to eat more to make up for the emotional disappointment. That’s why it’s important to continue what you’re doing and not drastically change your eating or exercise habits. Continued weight loss will eventually happen but what’s more important is that you not focus on those last 10 pounds. Just let it happen naturally. From experience, we can tell you if you focus on those last remaining pounds, you’ll get discouraged and gain weight. Sounds like you’re doing a
terrific job. You learned how to manage your food and calorie intake,
while including exercise in your routine, which is the entire reason we
exist. You are proof that sensibility pays off. Hang in there.
