Dear Editor,
I heard the Special K diet
commercial where you eat a bowl of Special K
cereal in the morning and lunch ... nothing else,
and then a regular dinner. What is your opinion of
this type of diet? Does it really work?
Dear Reader,
Though there is nothing wrong
with Special K cereal, I would not
use it as a food substitute. Special K contains
many vitamins and nutrients (artificially treated)
which is good for your body. However, eating
nothing more than a bowl of cereal for breakfast
and lunch is simply a starvation diet.
Starvation diets are difficult
to maintain because your will-power becomes really
weak by mid afternoon and will cause you to binge.
If you're lucky enough to eat only the Special K
cereal for breakfast and lunch, you will probably
over-eat at dinner. It's very tempting to binge at
dinner time when you're very hungry.
Rather than depending on
Special K cereal or any other type of cereal, it's
best to eat balance meals and learn how to wisely
choose foods. It's very important to develop good
eating habits as you lose weight so that you don't
re-gain the weight you lost.
